Creating an affordable space to support grassroots music in salford

artist and promoter feedback

meat free

“If the venue were able to provide in house light and sound, it would help us be able to make ticket prices more affordable and also offer more community tickets, which we give out for free to people who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend”

Elusive jazz festival

“Just wondering if the venue got any equipment updates? Tech/equipment is our biggest barrier to entry in getting our event to be able to go ahead, so would be great if the venue had anything in house we could use?”

No substance

“I would love to use Concept Haus for a live performance, but I wouldn’t be able to afford to put on a show with having to pay for light and sound hire”

Concept Haus already has a number of confirmed events in the programme, demonstrating existing demand and activity within the venue. However, Arts Council England funding would be instrumental in securing additional events, and being able to secure some of our upcoming events that are pending confirmation based on in house tech availability. These events are currently operating on tighter budgets and would otherwise be difficult to deliver. By providing in-house AV, the project reduces one of the key financial barriers for promoters and artists, lowering overall production costs and making it more viable for grassroots and emerging events to go ahead. This helps ensure a more diverse and sustainable programme by supporting events that rely on reduced overheads to take place.

audience engagement

Concept Haus has to date successfully put on 17 live shows, with audiences of up to 1000 attendees. Pre September 2025, we were limited on capacity to 499 attendees as we were running events on TEN’s - since becoming fully licensed, we now have a capacity of 1080 and our average audience attendance across events since being licensed is now 700. The investment in in-house AV equipment will increase audiences by reducing the cost of delivering events, making programming more financially viable for promoters and allowing a greater number of shows to take place across the year. It will also lower the 'break-even' point for events, enabling more affordable ticket pricing and increasing access for local audiences who are currently priced out of attending.

transform concept haus

Clients transform the venue by bringing in their own AV and production, turning Concept Haus into a fully bespoke space for each event. This flexible, blank canvas approach allows promoters and artists to install their own lighting, sound and visual setups, ensuring every show is tailored to their creative vision. We would love to provide some tech infrastructure in house, to allow a broader range of clients to access the space, particularly grassroots music artists who dont have the budget to hire in light and sound equipment, which can range is costs from £3000-£8000

kaleidscope orchestra

Kaleidoscope Orchestra hired Concept Haus to film a music promo video, but at present we do not have sufficient in-house equipment - such as staging and full production infrastructure - to support them in delivering a financially viable live performance at the venue. Arts Council England funding would help address these gaps, enabling artists like this to move from promotional use of the space into sustainable live events that benefit both the artists and the local community.

Cooper T

Local grassroots artists such as Cooper T have used Concept Haus for music video productions, but have noted that the high costs of lighting and sound production make it difficult for them to progress into delivering financially viable live shows at the venue.

d double e

Rich Reason has delivered live shows at Concept Haus, including sell out events featuring artists such as D Double E, with budgets that allow for additional AV hire; however, we want to ensure the venue is also more accessible to grassroots music artists who do not have access to this level of production funding.

always jovi

Always Jovi (Bon Jovi tribute) have filmed a music video at Concept Haus, but the lack of sufficient in-house AV and staging equipment has prevented them from progressing to delivering a viable live show at the venue.

no substance

No Substance, a local grassroots music artist, has used Concept Haus for music video productions, but has noted that the additional cost of hiring AV equipment is a barrier to progressing into delivering a live show at the venue.
